Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

"We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts we make the world." Buddha

Why come to see me?

I am qualified in Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy, recognised as a highly effective form of CBT. It focuses on identifying and changing the ‘unhealthy’ beliefs at the root of your problems.

Scientifically proven to help with a wide range of emotional problems including all forms of anxiety, low confidence, depression, anger and relationship issues. See What I Can Help With for a comprehensive list of areas.

Over the years, I have incorporated approaches from disciplines such as CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and Mindfulness to provide additional expertise where relevant.

I have been running my busy practice in Putney, South West London for many years. Working from a private therapy room at the front of my home in a quiet residential street, my clients find this a comfortable space in which to deal with complex issues confidentially.

I provide a warm, supportive, confidential and non-judgmental environment for you to talk about concerns. Counselling is an invaluable part of the overall process for my clients.

What will happen?

During our first session, we discuss your problems in depth. I explain how I work and we agree the best approach for your needs.

CBT explores the influence of your upbringing and key life events but mainly focuses on the present. You learn techniques to solve your problems and insight to make positive changes now and in the future.

By changing the way you think and challenging yourself to face up to behavioural issues that are compounding your problems (such as avoidance of situations) - you can change how you feel.

How long will it take?

On average the process takes from 6 to 12 fifty-minute sessions (although some people may require more, or less).

Do contact me to discuss how I might help you make changes to get your life back on track.

"I went to see Louise as I was experiencing anxiety and panic attacks which were very distressing. She immediately put me at ease and was reassuring and offered me a very detailed assessment of my difficulties. I was very impressed by her use of rational emotive CBT which helped me understand and take control of my problems very quickly. I’m pleased to say that my symptoms have resolved thanks to Louise’s sessions and I would recommend her without question." CD
